WE ARE RUNNING MEN...!!

Apparently last night was Arnold Schwarzenegger night on Showtime and as a "thirty Something" who looks 26, I had a damn good time watching those good ol flicks. How could you not like the sword wielding Conan the Barbarian or Brigitte Neilson in Red Sonja?? True classics if there ever were any but my jaw basically hit the floor when another of the Great Governor's classics graced my 50 inch plasma. I was completely taken back as the opening dialogue of "The Running Man" wreaks of a totalitarian society in which the government controls and censors all facets of the media and communication...sound familiar?? Here is what it says:

"In the year 2017, the world economy has collapsed. The great freedoms of the United States are no longer, as the once great nation has sealed off its borders and become a militarized police state, censoring all film, art, literature, and communications. With full control over the media, the government attempts to quell the nation's yearning for freedom by broadcasting a number of game shows on which convicted criminals fight for their lives. The most popular and sadistic of these programs is "The Running Man".

If we really believe that "art imitates life" than the correlation from this film to our current way of life can be easily recognized. BY NO MEANS do I base my current beliefs on fictional movies or characters but I couldn't ignore the similarities from the movie. For instance the movie is set during a time in which the economy is broken and whose citizens are distracted, no no OBSESSED by a reality TV show. American Idol anyone? I also noticed in the movie that the Patriots or constitutionalists were considered a threat to society and quieted by any means necessary. Ron Paul recently gave a speech regarding the torture and assassination of American citizens who may have had intelligence that could be detrimental to our way of life. Quite frankly I can't understand why one of our elected officials would have the conviction to make these statements if they weren't at least partially true. Its past time that we as citizens get informed about what is happening around us and as for me, I will be no running man.

LET FREEDOM RING, THE CYBER SECURITY WAY...!

I find comfort in knowing that our freedom to express ourselves vocally is the very first Amendment of the Constitution. It has absolutely nothing to do with talking and everything to do with feeling. Words are only the end result of what our mind, body and soul tells us. It's in this same regard that we must safeguard this God given right that allows are voice, thoughts and feelings to be heard. If only the founding father's could see how far we've come...RIGHT? What would Abe Lincoln's Facebook page look like if he were here?? Would he be a Tweeter or would he prefer the outdated social set up of MySpace? Would Paul Revere have just sent an email to alert people that the British were coming?? I agree...It doesn't matter! You see, the medium in which a message, note or love letter is delivered is of no importance and should have NO bearing on our first amendment right regarding our free speech. I certainly wouldn't let someone bind and gag me physically and would in fact consider this a direct violation of more than one of my personal rights. Why then would you allow your right to use the Internet privately be bound, gagged and obliterated to non-existence. The Cyber Security Act of 2009 " Directs the President to establish or designate a Cybersecurity Advisory Panel to advise the President. Defines "cyber" as: (1) any process, program, or protocol relating to the use of the Internet or an intranet, automatic data processing or transmission, or telecommunication via the Internet or an intranet; and (2) any matter relating to or involving the use of, computers or computer networks" (Cyber Security Act). In short, what little privacy is left of the net, like everything else, will be owned, operated and distributed by the Federal Government. Restrictions will be enforced on internet useage allowing easier access to our bio information..."Big Brother"! Search the Cyber Security and stay informed. You don't have to agree with me but at least give yourself a chance to find out if you do. READ IT!
